MIKE FREEMAN
Mike Freeman writes poetry, short fiction and screenplays. His chapbook Why Poets Wear Black was published in 2002. His poetry and fiction have appeared in numerous publications, including Carousel, Contemporary Verse 2, Hammered Out, The Instant Anthology, Kairos, Kiss Machine, Misunderstandings, New Chief Tongue, Other Clutter and Other Clutter: An And-thology, Peter O’Toole, Rampike, STREET, Venue and The Windsor Review. He has been featured at reading series in Toronto and throughout Southern Ontario. He has also appeared on CityTV’s Speaker’s Corner, Bravo! News and TVO’s Imprint, reading his poems, and is the proud winner of the 2005 Art Bar Poetry Idol. His first full-length book of poems, Cigarette Salad, was published in the fall of 2006. His second volume of poetry, Bones, was launched in December 2007. Bestselling Canadian mystery author Louise Penny quoted from a poem in Bones for her awarding-winning novel The Brutal Telling, published 2009.
